Hats off, Harbhajan’s turban on.

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Call it the Divine Justice, fairy tale or whatever the two finals are life time achievements for Harbhajan and he will never forget these finals.

Two men, Andrew Symonds and Hayden were extremely inhuman to him. The former saw an animal in his unspoken words and the latter saw weeds in him, as a person. The former complained and an over friendly match refree banned Harbhajan for a few matches. BCCI fought for harbhajan and ensured that the racial slur accusation is removed from his name. Otherwise it would have been an irreparable loss to Singh and the country’s image.

Then the Australian media started haunting him., The obnoxious interview of Hayden and the scratch by him increased the acidic response from the Australian media. No other personality was flashed across the front and back pages of Australian newspapers as much as Harbhajan. There was a separate camera covering him in the second final.

Just like how Murali was insulted and troubled they tried it on him. Murali took it on his stride worked his way and subjected himself to further humiliations to clear the chucking slurs. But the turbanotor is built with different nerves. On the one hand he let his performance give a fitting reply. He took the wicket of Andrew in both the finals. And he took Hayden’s wicket in the first and was the most instrumental in Hayden’s run out in the second finals. He also gave back in the same kind be it ricky ponting, hayden or whom so ever. This bold man is what India is made of today. Gentle only till provoked. He has made all sardars proud and hats off to him.

In an on the field Interview he Quoted Guru Gobind Singh and said ‘Sawa lakh se ek ladaun, Tabe Gobind Singh naam kahaun’ [One Sikh is enough for 125,000 people]”.
and that is what he achieved here. “I love challenges and though people were booing me, I tried to ignore it,” he said in the aftermath of India beating Australia 2-0 in the CB Series finals.

“I don’t know what will happen to the Australian media without Bhajji [Harbhajan],” Dhoni said with a smile. “He was always there on the front page.He became a Michael Jackson sort of personality.” Dhoni felt that Harbhajan, and the rest of the Indians, grew stronger in the face of criticism.”The Aussie media criticism worked in our favour and we got used it after almost three months.”

The Aussies would have learnt that Sardars are good when friends and deadly when enemies. Punjab should be proud of their son.

Dhoni boys create history: Australia humbled.

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Breaking News: India has won the finals of CB series. They won the first two out of three with the third pending.
Inspite of sledging, racial accusations and Radio bashing, Indians proved they are on the way to the top and has dislodged the toppers. Australia may soon see a new face as captain and may take a few more matches to regain their confidence.
There was a great show by Australians in the last ten overs of Indian batting and similarly while batting they kept the suspense till the last over.
The best team won and they should now be treated as equals And Indians should be magnanimous to forget past and work for the top most position.

Dhoni is in the top of the world and Chennai superkings must be very happy.
India was 204/2 in 39th over but managed to score only a 258/9 in 50 overs. Their batting failed.
Praveen kumar took four wickets, Harbhajan knocked off Symonds once again, and Tendulkar made 91.
This week belongs to India.

scores:

India: 258 for 9 in 50 overs (S Tendulkar 91, Yuvraj Singh 38, M.S. Dhoni 36; N Bracken 3/31 Michael Clarke 3/52)

Australia: 249 all out in 50 overs (M Hayden 55, J Hopes 63; P Kumar 4-46, S Sreesanth 2-43).

Praveen Kumar has been declared as the ‘Man of the Match’

[I would like Hayden to hear his Radio interview once again. ]

This intense and tense match was not free of controversies. see below the write up in Times now.

“On the verge of losing the Commonwealth Bank series finals, the Australians were seen playing it very dirty indeed. The visuals showed how the Aussies seem to be doing everything under the sun to deny Indians a win. India’s little master Sachin Tendulkar was pulled down by bowler Michael Clarke in a bid to stop the ball and deny the Indians a single.Coming as it does after the Harbhajan Singh-Symonds controversy as well as Sunday’s allegations against Bhajji, this once again highlighted the unsportsmanlike behaviour of the Aussies.
See video here
The second controversy

Symonds’s innings included a rib-rattling shoulder charge of a streaker just after he came to the crease with his team in dire straits. It’s unclear whether the all-rounder, an avid rugby league fan, will find himself in hot water for the pole-axing.

Symonds could face a fine or ban if the International Cricket Council decides he breached section 4.2 of the code of conduct relating to physical assault of a rival player, official or a spectator.

Ponting said “India dominated us over the last couple of games and congratulations to them. They outplayed us in the finals - they deserve the trophy,” he said.

India’s title win justified the controversial omission of veterans Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman for the tri-series tournament.

“It’s very important because I believe this is a building stage of my team because of our youngsters and that we left off a lot of older players,” said Dhoni.

Australia ko chukka diya Dhoni, Chak de India.

This weed plucks and scratches

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

The highlight of the first Indo Australia CB series finals is not only Sachin’s first century in Australia; it is not only the emphatic win by India but also the poetic justice delivered by Harbhajan. He took two wickets and both his victims were his anti propagandists. The obnoxious weed plucked the titled and also finished the scoring of his monkey mate.

Sydney Morning Herald claims that harbhajan showed monkey gestures and also spat at the crowd and is thus starting a new racial drama. It claims he scratched with both hands similar to the one exhibited by crowds in Mumbai and then repeated it with one hand which was shot by the newspaper. Of course this photo is no evidence of any abuse since scratching in armpit is not illegal in any court of justice. And if there is a photo, which showed him using two hands as claimed by the paper then we may have some trouble.

Harbhajan not only bowled well but also took two prize wickets and was thus very instrumental in our win. Australian Media has a reputation of creating such ruckus whenever their team is down. Hayden in his weed interview said Indians were losing and that is why they are misbehaving. That was proved wrong once again. And the world should not forget that by roping in the umpires to their side they snatched a sure win for India and won the 16th match in their equalizer test record.

Most weeds are itchy and so Hayden should come to his rescue. And Australia is down and it is high time they take the weeds out of their mind and should start behaving like Humans first and then gentle.

What do you call some thing, which keeps climbing the tree of disrepute, and which ridicules and shows faces. In India we call it a monkey.

Well Sunday March 2nd is surely a great day for Indian Cricket. There were only roses. Fist came the news of the Australia win and then a surprise win in U19 Finals. And each lad in the team is richer by 15 lakhs courtesy BCCI. It is a great feat and a good gesture. But I sincerely hope the lads keep their foot in Earth and build on this success. They will now receive great offers from IPL and ICL and This young millionaires may then be tempted to settle down early. Or may be more money may motivate them to build better castles.

Andrew symonds open letter to Harbhajan

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Dear Bhajji,

Hi, How are you today. I am writing this letter to express my gratitude for saying what I heard, or for saying something which made me hear what I heard. That animal has got me one more million.

I am really shocked but now I understand the power of that Hindu god. I uttered the word, which I thought you said more than you, because I had to complain. And thus I get more than you, In fact much more than Ricky also. Can you please suggest any one temple of the god near Hyderabad? I plan to build a temple in Australia and may be sport a dollar with this new icon. The whole Australia woke up today to understand the power of your God. And now I know what is in a name.

I have started loving your country. You people are great. First you call me names, then pardon HOGG and now make me a millionaire. No other country has ever done this and I am sure will never do.

The only thing I am worried now is the envy and anger in our dressing room, which may happen now. But I am sure HE will take care. He sent you in time to utter what I heard or may be utter what you said you did, but resulting in me hearing what I said you said and thus made me utter his race more than anyone else in world cricket. And see I have reaped benefits. Now I wonder how Dhoni got more than me.

Well see you in India.

Jai Hanuman.

Yours sledgingly,

Andrew.

ps: This is not what he wrote, but what he would have written if he ever wrote to harbhajan.

INDIA CREATES HISTORY

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

Breaking News: India has won the Perth test by 72 runs. This is the best reply to Australia’s bullying’s in Sydney. Now Australia will require 17 consecutive test victories to break and create a record.Australia, needing 413 to win, were 340 for all out with 72 runs short of the target. India became the first country from the sub-continent to have defeated Australia at Perth. The Aussies have been forced to taste defeat at W.A.C.A for the first time in 10 years. It was India, who put brakes on Steve Waugh’s record streak and it’s again India who have quashed Ponting’s chances to be the skipper with the most consecutive Test wins. Beating Australia also becomes all the more remarkable especially after being 2-0 down in the series and the on and off field events that could have easily taken the focus away from the game.Anil Kumble said after the win: “Brilliant effort by team, it is special to win at Perth,’WE’LL SQUARE SERIES’ Everyone contributed in this win.
IRFAN PATHAN WHO TOOK THREE WICKETS AND SCORED WELL IS THE MAN OF THE MATCH. He scored 46 and 28 and took two wickets in first innings.
This weekend all news channels will be in a very happy mood and will compete with cricket comments and glorious praise on kumble boys. The advertisers and sponsors will be making merry.
Fox sports news:AUSTRALIA have again crashed back to earth at the hands of India after the tourists capped a superb performance at the WACA Ground with victory in the third Test by 72 runs.

Chasing 413 to extend their winning streak to 17, Australia could never mount a prolonged challenge at their shot at history, and were all out for 340 after some late slogging by the tailenders.

Just like they did in Kolkata in 2001, India snapped an Australia winning streak of 16, and like that win, this victory will rate as one of their best of modern times.

well raj, i’ll be interested in your comments given the dreadful decisions against hussey and symonds in this innings. do you reckon we should spit the dummy like the Indian team in the second test and claim bias, demanding that umpires are dropped ? should we threaten to boycott the next match? i think you’ll find the aussie team has somewhat more dignity and sportsmanship than that. it’s always interesting comparing reactions in similar situations.

Yeah Dave, you do that (Boycott i.e.) and while you are at it, take a look at the Sachin and Dhoni LBW dismissals also. Same mistakes, different teams - so it evens out I guess, unlike Sydney where it was Umpires and Australia 9 - India 1.

knoew someone will ask this question to the Indian supporters…. But you have to admit that these are common mistakes that umpires make in all games..The ones in sydney were a bit too much…(Ever seena n umpire asking the fielding captain whther or not to give out)… (Ever seen the 3rd umpire giving not out inspite of the whole world watching it on slow motion )… Coming back to Perth test, the umpires gaveTendulakt out when he was not…. even if umpires make mistakes, they are okay as long they are not all made against one team.. BTW, I’m from a neutral country and only love GOOD cricket, no matter who is playing it…

For all comments see The Sunday Times

Adding insult to injury, According to the ICC Code of Conduct regulations governing over-rate penalties, the Australian players were fined five per cent of their match fees for every over their side failed to bowl in the allotted time. The captain was fined double that amount. So, Ponting was fined 20 per cent of his match fee while the other Aussie players were fined 10 per cent of their match fee
